New pavilions open at Langama Park Reserve

Two redeveloped pavilions have been officially opened at Langama Park Reserve for Sunbury’s soccer, cricket and rugby players.

Sunbury MP Josh Bull launched the new facilities, funded by a $1 million injection from the state government’s Local Sports Grants Initiative and a $1.75 million financial contribution from Hume council.

“Sunbury sports clubs are an integral part of this community – they deserve appropriate facilities they can be proud of,” Mr Bull said.

“The new pavilion facilities open more opportunities for participation at this popular park and provide the perfect foundation to build club memberships and host big community events.”

“Better sport and recreation facilities make it easier for Victorians to get back to local sport and recreation and lead healthy and active lifestyles.”

Those set to benefit include the Sunbury Cricket Club, Sunbury United Sporting Club and Sunbury Tigers Rugby League Club, who now have more space for training and competitions.

The upgrade includes a new pavilion fitted out with female friendly change rooms, a social room, a kitchen-bar area, amenities, storage and umpire change rooms, and a refurbishment of the existing stadium with new changerooms and amenities.

A competition LED lighting system was also installed on pitches two to five.

The government said the upgrades provided a space for teams to take their game to “a whole new level” and for community groups and nearby schools to use.
