Back and bright in red uniforms after two years sidelined due to COVID-19, the Bunnings team took to St Anne’s Primary School in Sunbury to help plant their gardens and paint around the school.
St Anne’s sustainability leader Jo Hannan said it was a fantastic day.
“There were close to 40 people from Bunnings, some from the head office and some from the other side of town, as well as a Dulux team that painted some of the seats and fixtures around the school,” Ms Hannan said.
“As a surprise for the kids when they return to school, the working bee took place during the holidays.”
The entrance to the school was where most of the work occurred, planted with natives which are set to encourage pollinators down the track.
Ms Hannan said it looked great.
“It means a great deal [to have this support].” she said.
“After COVID-19 its invaluable to have community organisations be able to contribute again.”
The work, which took place on September 21, is part of an ongoing partnership between the school, Bunnings and Dulux.
Ms Hannan said she hopes the bee encourages volunteers, parents and the broader community to get involved with sustainability at the school.
“A special thanks to Lyn, Zena and the community coordinators from Bunnings Sunbury,” she said.
