LGBTIQ+ collaboration guide released

A new guide to increase the collaboration of LGBTIQ+ and family violence prevention organisations to deliver prevention programs addressing family violence experienced by LGBTIQ+ people is now in place.

Delivered in partnership with Safe and Equal, Rainbow Health Australia’s Pride in Prevention Partnership Guide brings together the expertise of organisations working in these sectors and shows that by partnering together, Victoria, including in Sunbury and the Macedon Ranges, can be a safer place for LGBTIQ+ people.

Equality Minister Harriet Shing said it was essential for violence prevention groups to be able to prevent violence before it starts.

“LGBTIQ+ Victorians deserve to live safely and be themselves, that’s why guidelines like this are so important,” she said.

The guide follows on from a $750,000 investment towards Rainbow Health Australia for the continuation of the LGBTIQ+ Family Violence Primary Prevention project.

Prevention of Family Violence Minister Ros Spence said the guide is an “invaluable resource” for all groups within the violence prevention and LGBTIQ+ sectors.

“We know that when we support greater collaboration between organisations, we provide better connected services,” she said.
