Yesterday, Sunbury residents had the chance to learn more about the infrastructure works happening around town by having a chat with project teams in person, as the Big Build Roadshow swept through.

Teams from Rail Projects Victoria, the Level Crossing Removal Project and Major Road Projects Victoria were stationed outside Sunbury Post Shop on Tuesday to provide information about road and rail upgrades.

“Local residents have a lot to look forward to with significant transport improvements in the area, and the roadshow providing a fantastic opportunity to hear more about the works,” Mr Bull said.

“Sunbury is rapidly growing, and we need to ensure the road and rail network meets the needs of the community for years to come.”

It was the fourth time the Big Build Roadshow headed to Sunbury, and locals embraced the chance to understand more about upcoming works and disruptions in the area.

As part of the state government’s Big Build, more than $27 billion is being injected in road and rail infrastructure in Melbourne’s west and north-west.

This includes the Sunbury Line Upgrade, the Metro Tunnel, Melbourne Airport Rail, West Gate Tunnel and upgrades to local roads.

The Gap Road level crossing is set to be completed with the road reopened to traffic in October. Further level crossing removals at Calder Park Drive and Holden Road are in planning.

Project teams chatted with locals about the power upgrades on the Sunbury Line, the major road upgrades underway including on Sunbury and Craigieburn roads, and upgrades to the Bulla Bypass, Mickleham Road, Somerton Road and Calder Park Drive.

Sunbury residents were encouraged to take advantage of the Shop Sunbury campaign, by shopping locally and going in the draw to a $1000 prize.
