Tigers hoping to finish on a high

Kyneton is hoping to get a few more wins on the board in the last few rounds of the Bendigo Netball League season.

The Tigers were in sixth spot heading into the weekend’s match with Golden Square, which was after deadline.

Speaking before the weekend’s match netball director Loryn Savoia admits it has been a challenging season for the club.

While it was a success for the club to get all five sides on the park, results have been tough. All five teams will miss finals, with the A-grade side having the best results.

“We’re developing the club in a challenging league,” Savoia said.

“We have a challenge against Golden Square. Hopefully we can have some success with more than one of the grades getting wins.

Savoia said there had been a good mix of youth and experience in the A-grade side. She said it had been pleasing to see some younger girls come through and have an impact.

Dezyre Paiti and Manaia Vanderlee have both joined the club this season and stepped into the top side and played some good netball.

Savoia said the A-reserve and B-grade sides were both developing as the season went on.

It’s been good news for the Tigers off court.

“We are getting some funding, which we’re happy about to help upgrade the facilities,” she said.

“We have a single court and it’s not up to standard with no change rooms and storage facilities.

“It’s what we’re looking to build.”
