Sunbury man scores $1.3 million lotto win

It took a moment for a Sunbury man to realise he’d won $1.3 million in the weekend’s TattsLotto draw.

“I checked my ticket on Saturday night and I kept looking at it to make sure,” he said.

“I first thought I’d only won $1300, but then I thought, ‘There’s too many numbers there’. That’s when I realised it was $1.3 million.”

He held one of four division one winning entries in TattsLotto draw 4279, dawn on July 23.

The winning system nine entry was bought online, and also won division three 18 times, division four 45 times and division six 20 times. It boosted his total winnings to $1,380, 301.87.

“I just couldn’t believe it. I said to my wife, ‘Look at this’. She couldn’t believe it either,” the man said.

“I got this System 9 entry as a QuickPick a few months ago, and I didn’t even get one number from it. But I’ve kept playing those numbers ever since. I’m glad I did.

“The family says we’ve got to spoil ourselves. I might look at working less leading up to retirement, and my wife and I will think about how best to enjoy it.

“I’ve never really thought of myself as a lucky person, but my family have started calling me a millionaire now. It feels strange to be called a millionaire, but it does feel good.”

The winning numbers in draw 4279 were 3, 40, 38, 32, 24 and 20, while the supplementary numbers were 31 and 5.
