Have your say on Old Kyneton Primary School masterplan

A masterplan for the development of the Old Kyneton Primary School is underway, and the community is invited to have their say.

Through Creative Victoria, the government is investing $12 million to turn the old school into a creative precinct.

The masterplan is being developed by future site operator Working Heritage and local architect Winwood McKenzie, which will explore the vision for the site, including how existing buildings could be best used.

Macedon MP Mary-Anne Thomas said it was great to see the project moving forward.

“It is exciting to see the Old Kyneton Primary School take its next steps toward becoming a thriving creative hub for our local community, we encourage everyone to have their say to shape the future of the site,” Ms Thomas said.

Winwood McKenzie is based in both Kyneton and Melbourne, and is a specialist heritage, residential and commercial renovations, a government statement said.

“Architects Fieldwork – whose previous projects include the Collingwood Yards redevelopment – have also been appointed to undertake design work focused on restoring the building for use by local creatives and the broader community,” the government said.

“Overseen by Development Victoria through Creative Victoria, this design component of the project has already commenced, with work underway to better understand the site’s current condition.”

The community can also access important planning documents, including the Memorandum of Heritage Advice, Summary of Planning Controls, and a Traffic Engineering Report for public consideration.

Working Heritage is inviting prospective tenants or any community members who may be interested in using the space in the future to register their interest at workingheritage.com.au.
