Songs of The Carpenters coming to Kyneton

The beautiful songs of The Carpenters will ring through Kyneton Town Hall when Laura Davidson and her all-star band make their way to the Macedon Ranges.

The Carpenters smash hits from the late 1960s into the 1980s will come alive again with harmonies woven throughout.

Davidson told Star Weekly the audience can expect to know every hit singalong, “performed by a completely live, seven-piece band that sounds extremely close to the records, along with some humour and anecdotes”.

“I remember feeling a little bemused when someone gave me a Carpenters album for a gift as a young teenager, until I played it and had my mind blown by the rich wall of harmonies and melancholic lyrics,” Davidson said.

“Perfect for a music-loving, deep-thinking teenager that was known for being older than her years.”

She said the show would include a special guest performance by Angus Birchall on the drums, who has played with the likes of John Farnham band and the Black Sorrows. She said he was “one of Australia’s best drummers and delightful human”.

“The show also features ARIA award-winner Mitch Cairns, Mark Vandenboom, Ally McNaughton, Jeremy Diffey (Yacht Rock Revival) and Andrew Leach (Big & Horny),” she said.

The show is happening on August 7 at 3pm, and tickets are $59.90 full price and $49.90 for concessions and seniors.
