St Ambrose Primary School in Woodend is getting a facelift, with upgrade works officially underway.
Macedon MP Mary-Anne Thomas visited the school on Friday to commemorate the first sod turning in the $3.2 million project, set to include two general learning areas, an art room, as well as administration and associated spaces.
“These local upgrades are part of the school building boom that is happening right across Victoria,” Ms Thomas said.
“Upgrading St Ambrose will give our local Woodend students access to great classrooms and facilities – because you can’t deliver a first-rate education in second-rate classrooms.”
Raysett Construction company has been appointed to build the project, set to be completed in early 2023, and the government said the upgrade is also projected to create local jobs.
The Victorian government outlined $1.6 billion in its 2021-22 budget to build new schools and improve old ones, to “make sure our kids have the bright futures they deserve”.
