East Sunbury scraps seniors, reserves and under-18 teams for 2022 EDFL season

The committee of the East Sunbury Football Club has decided the club will not field a seniors, reserves, or under-18s team in the 2022 Essendon District Football League season.

In a statement released on its Facebook page last night, the club stated that they would use the time to rebuild for next year.

“We are devastated that we have had to make this extremely difficult decision,” the post read.

“Like many other clubs in the football world we have struggled over the last two years with lack of participation amongst the playing group and Covid has taken its toll in our community.

“East Sunbury Football club is in a strong financial position with an enviable list of committed sponsors, a solid junior arm, excellent facilities and amazing volunteers & committee.”

The club will continue to field all junior players for the 2022 season.
