Lancefield motorists can look forward to a safer journey on the road.
Work is under way to improve the corner of Lancefield-Tooborac Road and Burke Wills Track in Lancefield.
Safety improvements include widening the corner, installing a splitter island, fresh line marks, new lighting, a rumble strip and signage.
Further along Lancefield-Tooborac Road, the right turn lane into Pyalong Road will also be made clearer.
Traffic management will be in place until works are complete and speeds will be reduced to 40km/h for the safety of workers, motorists and pedestrians.
The $194,000 project is funded by the state government.
Macedon MP Mary-Anne Thomas said the intersection was one of the most “difficult high-speed” areas in the Macedon Ranges.
“We are committed to improving the road network right here in Lancefield and across the Macedon Ranges, with these works making this intersection safer and easier to navigate for all drivers,” she said.
“Too many people are being injured in crashes at high-speed rural and regional intersections, which is why we are investing in vital safety upgrades.”
