The Algie Mitchell Shield went down to the final hole at Romsey Golf Club on Saturday.
Davey Kenney and Mal Mottram battled out the final in tough conditions, with not many golfers on the day able to post good scores.
The gap in the final was three after the ninth hole, before back to being all square by the 15th hole.
The 18th hole, the most difficult on the course, would decide the winner with Kenney finishing the final one up.
In the stroke competition, it was one of the younger golfers, Josh Squire, who came out on top.
On Wednesday in the Canadian Foursomes competitions, golfers needed the sunscreen and wet weather gear.
The Canadian Foursomes was the event where teams of two taking alternate shots to the hole, which challenged all golfers.
Darlene Baker and Rob Slade won from Bruce Robb and Hugh Williams.
With the Melbourne Cup holiday, the club held a Cup Day Stableford competition.
The wind picked up mid round pushing ball south and many balls ended up in the tough or behind one of the park’s many trees.
In the end it was a day for daring golf backed up by sensible golf, a balance few are able to achieve.
Toby Clement took out the win.
