Kyneton Health has achieved a mighty milestone to help track the spread of COVID-19.
Last week, the hospital conducted it’s 10,000th test at its respiratory assessment clinic.
The Kyneton clinic has tested individuals since the end of February, and was one of the first testing sites in the Macedon Ranges to open.
Central Highlands Rural Health chief executive Maree Cuddihy said she was grateful to Macedon Ranges locals in their commitment to help track the spread of the virus.
“Ten thousand COVID-19 tests is a major achievement, not only for our hospital, but for every single person in the Macedon Ranges who has come forward,” she said.
“With every test we carry out, we are helping contain the spread of the virus in our community.
“We want to reiterate that getting tested is not something to be ashamed of.
“By encouraging one another to get tested, and supporting those who test positive throughout the recovery process, we are looking after our friends, our family and our wider community.”
Earlier this month, six Australian Defence Force members were deployed to Kyneton Health to assist nurses at the COVID-19 clinic.
Australian Defence Force members have been busy swabbing patients and triaging those calling to make an appointment.
“We are extremely grateful to the Australian Defence Force for their support as our staff have been going above and beyond to support our community,” Ms Cuddihy said.
People are asked book ahead to secure an appointment time.
