Director makes debut

A first-time director is excited to see her work come to life on the big stage.

Sunbury’s Boilerhouse Theatre Company will play host to Cassidy Pitts’ first show, You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.

Pitts, 20 said the show was made up of little moments of Charlie Brown’s life.

“It’s [the show] based off the comics,” she said.

“We go through Valentine’s Day, a baseball game and all these different themes.

“It’s a bit different because it doesn’t follow a typical show.”

The show is being performed by 17 youths aged between 12 and 18, all playing classic characters.

Pitts said the theatre company’s, Treehouse Youth Theatre Group, was assisting the young crew to put the show together.

“We’ve never done any of these [production] roles before. We’ve got mentors from the theatre company [and] we are learning how to r un shows.”

The cast and crew have been rehearsing since December and Pitts said she was looking forward to seeing her hard work pay off.

“It’s been very intense,” she said. “It’s also rewarding to see it all develop and grow.”

You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown opens on Saturday, March 14 at the Boilerhouse Community Arts Centre, 20 Boilerhouse Road, Sunbury. The show closes on March 28.Tickets and details: bit.ly/2vlkRaY
