Relive the magic and life of music legend John Lennon in Kyneton later this month.
Australian actor and musician John Waters and singer and pianist Stewart D’Arrietta will bring Lennon: Through a Glass Onion to the Kyneton Town Hall.
The show, part concert and part biography, reveals the life and talent of one of the music world’s most beloved artists through his songs including Imagine, Strawberry Fields Forever and Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.
Waters said the show was put together in 1992, 12 years after Lennon’s death.
“I wanted to do something with music and spoken word so I decided on John Lennon and his music,” he said. “He’s a man who has written songs about his own life. In a real sense, a lot of his songs were very autobiographical.”
Since the show’s first performance at the Tilbury Hotel in Sydney in 1992, Waters and his team have toured the globe.
“We’ve taken the show to London, New York City, to central Tokyo,” he said. “We’ve been to regional USA playing in Texas and Florida.
“The show started as more of an interest to the baby boomers. But now we’ve got teenagers coming to see the show, wearing John Lennon t-shirts.”
Lennon: Through a Glass Onion will be performed on Friday, February 21 at the Kyneton Town Hall from 8pm. Cost $55 per person.
