MAFS star out of his comfort zone

A “simple” Sunbury bloke is hoping to find love.

David, 31, has lived in Sunbury for as long as he can remember and last week got “hitched“ on the popular reality TV show Married at First Sight.

He told Star Weekly the experiment took him out of his comfort zone.

“I’ve been in a few pretty serious relationships. The last one was with a police officer which wasn’t successful – it lasted about 12 months.

“It seems to be the trend with me. I date someone for six to 12 months and then something happens or they want to change something about me or vice versa and it doesn’t work.”

This time it may be different. In the lead-up to his Married at First Sight wedding, David felt the nerves approach as his “bride” walked down the aisle.

“It’s pretty daunting,” he said. “There are a lot of eyes on you, with all the cameras, and it’s a lot to take in especially for a simple bloke like me.

“I was a fish out of water. The filming was done at all these … five star hotels. That’s not my usual scene.

“When I am going on vacation, I go the Murray [River].”

David hasn’t let his reality TV experience get the best of him.

“I learnt a lot about myself and not everyone had the same experience as I did.”

He now works and lives in Charlton and is chasing his dream of becoming a “real life cowboy”.

“Charlton is where I belong. “I’ve always been a Sunbury boy as long as I can remember. I moved to Toolern Vale about 18 months ago and this is the first time moving away from home.”
