Kaitlyn Secker is looking forward to performing on home soil.
The musician, originally from Woodend, is a singer from Melbourne based band The Mamas.
Ms Secker, 23, said the band formed three years after their members met each other at Monash University.
“We were all studying music … and had the same classes,” she said. “We became great friends and we all decided to form a band. We had a long discussion, talking about issues we were facing as female musicians.
“We started writing song on those serious issues including feminism and equality.”
The Mamas will be touring Victoria as part of their Dancefloor Tour from February 9. The band will a make a special appearance at a place close to Ms Secker’s heart.
“We have a whole new show that we have put together,” she said. “We are bringing it [the show] to Melbourne, then we are going to Geelong, Ballarat, Macedon, Canberra, Sydney, Newcastle [and] San Remo.
“It’s more of a regional tour. I’m really excited – I get to play in the Macedon Ranges. It’ll be nice and nostalgic.”
