Macedon Ranges motorists can look forward to safer and smoother roads.
Road surface improvements will be undertaken on key stretches of the Calder Freeway near Macedon and on Gisborne-Melton Road in Gisborne as part of the state government’s road maintenance blitz.
The projects are part of a $57.2 million investment to rebuild, resurface and repair about 268 kilometres of road across regional Victoria.
The Macedon Ranges projects are currently in the planning stage and are expected to be completed by June 2020.
Once started, work crews will be out in full force and reduced speeds and traffic management will be in place.
Macedon MP Mary-Anne Thomas said she was delighted key roads in the Macedon Ranges were receiving an upgrade.
“This will be very welcome news for those people who use the Calder [Freeway] every day,” she said.
“We’re rebuilding sections so that people can have a smoother and safer drive home.”
Roads Minister Jaala Pulford welcomed the news.
“Whether it’s our truck drivers, visitors travelling to our region, or locals heading down to the shops, we’re fixing roads across central Victoria to give everyone a safer and smoother journey,” she said.
