This weekend’s Romsey Whole Town Garage Sale is a chance to turn ‘trash’ into treasure.
Hosted by the Romsey Neighbourhood House, the one-day annual event invites residents to sell their pre-loved or new items.
Neighbourhood House committee president Allan Irvine said more than 40 Romsey families have registered to take part in this year’s event.
“The neighbourhood house produces a map and a list, which we sell on the day for $3, which guides them to all of the garage sales around town,” he said. “We also offer the option of selling at the hub where we will have a barbecue as well.”
Mr Irvine said there will be something for everyone to buy during the sale.
“People can sell anything you can imagine, it’s all available,” he said.
“If people are moving houses they can sell everything. Other people specialise in certain things, maybe car parts. It’s so broad that you can’t pin it down.”
Mr Irvine said the whole town garage sale was a great community event.
“There are cars buzzing all around Romsey on that morning,” he said. “It’s a very popular thing.”
The garage sale will be on Saturday, September 14 from 8am. Maps can be purchased at Romsey Community Hub, 96 Main Street.
