Spring keen in Sunbury

It may be winter, but spring is in the air at Distinctive Options Sunbury.

The disability service and support organisation hosted a working bee last month to get its garden in ship shape.

Distinctive Options assistant co-ordinator Beth Power said Bunnings Warehouse Sunbury employees helped the organisation’s maintenance group with the project.

“They came in and put in raised garden beds for our guys who are in wheelchairs or are elderly and can’t access the vegie garden,” she said.

“They’ve cleaned up all the gardens, they’ve put in stepping stones and little walkways. It looks brilliant out there.

“Bunnings were heavily involved. They donated so much of their time and their products. They are re-doing our picnic table out there, as well, so it’s all fresh and nice.

“There was nothing that they couldn’t help us with. They directed them, they were great with the guys – they were really considerate of their needs and what they can and cannot do.”
