It’s time to put the kettle on and have a cuppa – Sunbury’s Great Bake-Off Challenge is back.
Now in its seventh year, the event is part of Cancer Council Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea.
Event organiser Fi Corboy said the Cancer Council held a special place in her heart.
“I have been fundraising for Cancer Council Victoria since 1996,” she said. “In 2012, I was diagnosed with early stage 2 lobular breast cancer. After surgery and radiation, along with medication for four years, I was looking at a full recovery due to my early diagnosis.”
Ms Corboy’s mother and grandmother were both diagnosed with breast cancer.
“I am a third generation survivor,” she said.
“I always had the family connection and [when] I was diagnosed, I decided to do the Great Bake-Off Challenge.
“We had a really great event. From the feedback I got from people, they wanted to come back and do it again … and here we are, seven years later.”
There will be a selection of coffee and teas, home-baked goods, games, raffles and hampers and auction prizes to be won on the day.
The Great Bake-Off will be on Friday, May 21, at the Rainbow Court function room from 9am-noon. Entry is $15 for visitors. Challenge participant fee is $5.
