Soul star unplugged

Taylor Sheridan is hitting all the high notes.

The Gisborne musician has had a love of music since he was 10 years old.

“I knew from a really young age that I loved music … after a song would play on the radio, I would sing it straight away and it just sort of stuck to my brain,” Sheridan said.

“Everyone else kind of wanted to go kick a footy and play basketball and I wanted to sing and play guitar.”

Having released two EPs and multiple singles, he describes his music as “soulfully acoustic”.

“I grew up to guys like Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson … soulful singers that I tried to emulate,” he said.

“It’s become my vocal DNA. My heart lies with acoustic music … it just feels incredibly natural to put an acoustic guitar and my voice together.”

Sheridan, who recently toured with Pete Murray, will perform at the Macedon Ranges Music Festival.

“I am a huge supporter of the Macedon Ranges,” he said.

“Coming from Kyneton, I’m born and bred around this area and if it has anything to do with the Macedon Ranges, I will put my hand up … I’m stoked to be a part of it.”

The Macedon Ranges Music Festival will be held on Saturday, March 2, at Gisborne Steam Park.
