Funds secure road upgrade

Kyneton drivers will benefit from an intersection upgrade and road rebuild on Heathcote-Kyneton Road.

The $1 million project has received funding under the state government’s Regional Roads Victoria fund.

Construction has started and the upgrades should increase safety and visibility at the Ennis and Redesdale roads intersections on Heathcote-Kyneton Road.

A new traffic island, lighting, drainage, fresh line marking and a 500 metre section of round foundation will be installed, which is expected to increase the strength and durability of the route.

Traffic management will be in place with speeds reduced to 40km/h until construction is completed, which is expected to be by June. There will be temporary closures on Redesdale Road and Ennis Road.

This project follows a $3.6 million package from the state government to rebuild 6.5 kilometres of road between Kyneton and Redesdale in 2018.

Macedon MP Mary-Anne Thomas said the state government was making Heathcote-Kyneton Road “safer and stronger for the 1400 drivers that rely on it every day”.

“[We are] spending more than ever upgrading our regional roads, with major works taking place right across Macedon,” Ms Thomas said.
