Reading all about it

Book yourself a date with one of the most popular novels in the Sunbury and Macedon Ranges libraries.

Hume council has released a list of last year’s top-10 most borrowed books from its libraries.

The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn, follows the life of Anna Fox as she tries to uncover the truth behind the frenzied screams that ripped through her home, placed first on the list.

The 22nd Jack Reacher book, The Midnight Line by Lee Child placed second, which takes the reader on the journey of a former military policeman investigating the illegal opioid trade.

Harlen Coben’s mystery novel Don’t Let Go – about Napoleon Dumas’ journey to find out the truth behind the deaths of his twin brother Leo and Leo’s girlfriend Diana – wrapped up the top three.

Hume mayor Carly Moore said she encouraged “everyone to rediscover their local libraries”.

“Our libraries are for the enjoyment of the entire community, offering lots of borrowing options, plus events and activities … they are simply amazing,” she said.

Cr Moore said Hume’s digital collection was “becoming increasingly popular” throughout 2018, after there was a 79 per cent increase in digital loans compared with 2017.

In the Macedon Ranges libraries, The Midnight Line by Lee Child, Nine Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty and The Dry by Jane Harper were the top three most borrowed books in January 2019.
