A Kyneton sculptor will showcase her work at an international level.
Larissa Gray was named as the successful applicant for an art exchange with Macedon Ranges’ sister city, Tokai in Japan.
Ms Gray will send three bronzed sculptures to Japan in April.
“I’m in the process of creating them now,” she said.
“It needs to meet the brief which embodies the Macedon Ranges and the lifestyle and culture.
“When I thought about the brief, I wasn’t sure how to incorporate the whole of Macedon Ranges in to one piece, so it made me think about doing a collection.”
She was chosen by a panel with representatives from the council, Multicultural Arts Victoria and Regional Arts Victoria.
Gray opened The Golden Dog Gallery in Kyneton in 2017.
Macedon Ranges mayor Janet Pearce said she was proud of Gray’s work.
“This is the first time that we’ve had a reciprocal art exchange with Tokai, so we’re really looking forward to it” Cr Pearce said.
“Larissa has a great appreciation of Japan having travelled there many times and [she]
was extremely excited to be part of the exchange.”
