Residents warm to pool

The Sunbury Aquatic and Leisure Centre has opened a new $4 million warm water swimming pool.

The new 1.4-metre deep pool will offer aquatic programs, classes and treatments, including exercise and rehabilitation.

Hume councillor Geoff Porter said the pool would allow rehabilitation services to be provided locally.

“This will make a huge difference to the day-to-day lives of people needing to use the warm water pool for rehabilitation,” Cr Porter said.

“The new facility also creates an opportunity for local sporting clubs to use the pool for recovery sessions.”

Cr Porter launched the pool with Sunbury MP Josh Bull.

He said a $2 million state government contribution had allowed the council to build the $4 million facility sooner.
