Twin victories for Gisborne

Gisborne remains undefeated after four rounds of Cricket Victoria’s Women’s Community Cricket north-west B T20 competition.

The Dragons’ strong early season form continued on Sunday, winning both their matches.

The Dragons faced the Greenvale Kangaroos in the first match of the day. The Dragons won the round one match between the two sides.

On Sunday, the Kangaroos won the toss and elected to bat, making 6-50 from their 20 overs.

The Dragons had no trouble chasing down the runs, scoring 2-64 in 12 overs.

The Dragons then backed it up against St Anthonys, which had a strong win against Melton Centrals earlier in the day.

The Dragons openers did the job, making 0-114 off their overs.

But the match was a lot closer than the earlier encounter, with the Saints finishing on 4-108, giving the Dragons a six-run win.

Emily Consiglio was the pick of the bowlers for the Dragons after taking three wickets.

Captain Amber Andrews took the other wicket.

The Dragons were one of just two teams to win both their matches on Sunday, along with EMP/Willy Congs.

The Dragons sit atop the ladder, percentage ahead of the Congs.

The Dragons will be at home again this week, facing Coburg 2, before a competition bye takes place the following week.
