Show to remember

Business is blooming for Sunbury’s Annette Duff and Fiona Warncke as they prepare for the upcoming Sunbury Show.

Next weekend’s show marks the 98th grand annual Sunbury Agricultural Show.

The business partners have both competed in the show for more than a decade and collected dozens of blue ribbons over the years.

This year, Ms Warncke, her 22-year-old daughter Rachael and mother Marlene Benz will battle it out for the top prize in crochet.

“I have had plenty of success in both the crafts and flowers categories, mum and I have both been overall pavillion winners in the past,” Ms Warncke said. “I’ve picked up awards for crochet and needlecraft, cut flowers, fruit and vegies and pot plant sections. This year there will be three generations of my family in the crochet section which makes for some healthy competition.”

Ms Duff, who has entered the Sunbury Show for as long as she can remember, will be judging the cut flowers section this year.

Other highlights of the show include the pet parade, dog show, equestrian, livestock crafts and food and trades stalls.

Sunbury Agricultural Show will take place on Saturday, October 13, from 8.30am-4.30pm at Clarke Oval in Sunbury. Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for children and competitor passes cost $30.
