The unsung heroes who keep things ticking over at four Macedon Ranges community centres will get a helping hand thanks to state government grants.
Lancefield, Riddells Creek and Romsey neighbourhood houses and Macedon Ranges Further Education Centre will receive about $14,000 each to help pay co-ordinators for an extra five hours of work a week.
Samantha Crisp and Raewyn McColley share the co-ordinator role at Riddells Creek Neighbourhood House, which offers community courses, workshops and information sessions.
Ms Crisp said that in peak periods, up to 600 people a week attended the house for activities and courses.
She welcomed the funding grant as a
“relief” for the co-ordinating team at Riddells Creek.
“It has been quite difficult to allocate all activities the attention required to do them thoroughly,” she said.
“People visiting the house sometimes miss out due to the unavailability of a co-ordinator.
“An additional five hours will enable us to provide more comprehensive and an improved variety of services for the community.
“Our aim is to provide the best service possible to a diverse community. With the aid of the extra five hours, it will be possible to fulfil all obligations thoroughly.”
