Riddell in runaway win

Riddell had no trouble accounting for Rockbank in the Riddell District Football League on Saturday.

The Bombers dominated play to win 27.25 (187)-1.3 (9). Haydn Ross kicked eight goals, while the Tarczon boys, Dylan and Lachlan, kicked eight between them.

The win, the Bombers 10th in a row, moves them to second on the ladder with three rounds remaining.

Melton Centrals caused the upset of the round, beating Wallan, 11.5 (71)-10.10 (70).

Centrals had the better of it in the first half and had to watch as the Magpies worked their way back into the game.

The Magpies hit the front in the last quarter, but Centrals regained the lead and claimed the win.

James Aquilina kicked five goals for the Centrals, with Dylan Weir kicking the winner with three minutes to go.

Nathan Fowler and Sam Rexhepi kicked three goals each for Centrals. Fowler was named their best.

The Magpies slip to fourth on the ladder, while Centrals finals hopes are still alive.

Diggers Rest won its catch-up match against Romsey.

The round one match, which was postponed because of a power failure, saw the Burras win, 13.12 (90)-11.9(75).

Cam McCabe kicked five goals for the Burras in a best on ground performance.

Matthew Burkett kicked three goals for the Redbacks, while Jaidyn Caruana was named their best.

The Burras move up to third on the ladder, while the Redbacks remain in sixth, two games clear of Woodend-Hesket and the Melton Centrals.

The Redbacks face a vital match this week against the seventh-placed Hawks.
