IN FOCUS: Salesian College, a study in learning

Principal Mark Brockhus believes Salesian College Sunbury’s enriching curriculum, peaceful environment and commitment to the four value pillars – community, learning, excellence, and faith – sets it apart from other schools.

Offering programs and activities that cater for the many and varied individual needs of students, Salesian College Sunbury recognises that, when it comes to students and their individual interests and development, each one is unique.

“We aim to prepare our students to be active and responsible members of society through a balanced, broad, and adaptive learning approach,” Mr Brockhus says.

As part of its commitment to technology and innovation, Salesian College has recently launched a new website that allows current and prospective families to make payments and complete applications online.

Mr Brockhus expects the new features will make the application process a lot easier for families, believing it is important to embrace technology and take full advantage of its benefits to support the school community.

“At the core of our culture is community. We are a school which strongly believes that every student has the ability to strive for greatness, given the opportunity and environment, and that’s what we work to provide”, Mr Brockhus says.

“The unique learning and teaching environment, which includes a working farm, encourages positive engagement and diverse skill development as our students seek to gain further understanding of the world around them.

“We are a community of faith promoting values of excellence and academic rigour, discipline and dedication, integrity and honesty, justice and generosity of spirit. We strive to be examples of St John Bosco’s living charism, fostering the growth of the whole person in an atmosphere of reasonableness and kindness.”

Salesian College Sunbury provides opportunities for students from Year 7-12 to explore and cultivate their diverse interests and talents.

Applications for 2020 enrolments close on Friday, August 17.
