Thomas Currie is doing his bit in the fight against bullying.
The 19-year-old performer will debut his show, The Curtain Rises, at the Bluestone Theatre in Kyneton for one night only on August 18 to raise money for the Bully Zero charity.
Bully Zero is Australia’s leading charitable organisation implementing anti-bullying and cyberbullying programs in primary and secondary schools. The Curtain Rises features music from the 1920s and 1960s sung by Currie and accompanied by Geoffrey Scarlett on piano. Currie said opening the show in Kyneton before heading to Melbourne in December was “a great honour”.
“I have fond memories of attending large family reunions in Kyneton at the Botanical Gardens.
“My love of the performing arts developed at a young age and, after attending a study tour with a small group of acting students to New York in 2016, my career path was determined.”
“I have since developed an immense passion for teaching and mentoring students,” he said.
Currie has been working with grade six classes to negotiate the transition from primary to secondary school to settle student’s concerns through acting workshops. Tickets for The curtain Rises are $23.50 full price and $17.50 for concession.
