Romsey’s health centre and ecotherapy park almost ready

Romsey’s own community health centre and ecotherapy park are almost ready to open.

Work to transform the former Romsey Primary School site on Main Street has been under way since December and is expected to finish in late April, according to Macedon Ranges council.

The site, which had been unused for more than a decade, is soon to become a Cobaw Community Health centre and the beginnings of Romsey Ecotherapy Park.

Mayor Jennifer Anderson said the council was excited the project was under way.

“This is a much anticipated and exciting time in the Romsey region as we see this site transform into a space where the community’s health and wellbeing are central,” she said.

“Where people can meet, engage in healthy activities, develop stronger connections and celebrate together.”

All of Cobaw Health’s health and wellbeing services in the divisions of early childhood, youth, families, adults, aged and disability will be offered at the centre. On the Main Street side of the site, stage one of the ecotherapy park includes a flying fox, cubby, pathways, basket swing and log climbing features.

The Greater Romsey All-Abilities Park Committee has worked with the council to design a space where people of all ages and abilities can have a sensory and therapeutic experience in nature. Committee president Raelene Mottram said the team could not wait to share the committee’s vision with Romsey residents and visitors.

“All of these features are just the beginning of the realisation of the community’s full vision for the park,” she said.

Other stages of the park are planned to be added when funding is secured.
