December 21, 1977

Police raided a house in Hoppers Crossing last week and seized a small quantity of marijuana. A man was arrested at the house and proceedings will be taken on charges of possessing an illegal drug.

December 16, 1987

Hundreds of Werribee people, including people in the legal profession and big business, are set to lose large amounts of money in a game that offers players a 700 per cent return on their investment but rarely pays out. Called the “Golden Aeroplane” or “Aeroplane” game, sources told The Banner there could be hundreds of games in circulation around Werribee’s clubs, business houses and other places where large groups of people gather.

Police have called for public assistance in the hunt for an armed pair who terrorised two defenceless women at knife and gun-point during a late night attack. The ordeal unfolded about 12.30am on December 20 after the power was turned off at a residential home in Shaws Road, Werribee, apparently to lure the occupants outside.
