Sunbury cases keep cops busy

From an aggravated home invasion to a chase of a suspected stolen vehicle and an under-age driver, Victoria Police were busy pursuing Sunbury residents last week.

A 23-year-old man has been charged with committing an aggravated home invasion in Craigieburn.

The man was arrested last Thursday (December 7) after Hume Crime Investigation Unit executed a search warrant in Keith Court, Sunbury.

It is alleged the man is one of four offenders who committed an aggravated invasion in Craigieburn on the weekend of November 24-26.

Hume CIU Detective Senior Sergeant Simon Karp said investigations into another 12 home invasions in Craigieburn on the same weekend were ongoing.

The Sunbury man has been remanded in custody and was due to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court last Friday.

Meanwhile, a 17-year-old Sunbury boy is expected to face the children’s court after being involved in a police chase in Geelong last Wednesday (December 6).

Sunbury Senior Sergeant Brad Towers said the boy was arrested in relation to car theft after police pursued him through Geelong. He was pulled over by police on the Calder Freeway.

Senior Sergeant Towers described the teen as driving “erratically”.

And police are continuing to call for information after two men attempted to flee a car crash in Sunbury on November 27.

A silver Commodore was allegedly being driven at high speed when it crashed into a tree on Elizabeth Drive about 3pm. Two male occupants were arrested after attempting to flee the incident and were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police wish to speak to anyone who saw the silver Commodore sedan in Sunbury at the time.

Investigators are also appealing for dashcam footage or CCTV in the area at the time.

Anyone with information on the Sunbury car crash is being asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or to submit an anonymous report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
