Macedon Ranges mayor Jennifer Anderson re-elected

Macedon Ranges mayor Jennifer Anderson has vowed to continue the council’s vision to improve the region after being unanimously re-elected to the position last night.

Elected unopposed to the position, councillors also stood united in moving to “continue to refrain from having a deputy mayor” as the council has done the past year.

Addressing the council meeting, Cr Anderson thanked the council for its support and reflected on its achievements in the past year.

“I’m going to cry, it’s so emotional,” she began. “It’s been an amazing 12 month journey.

“The support these councillors have given me in the last 12 months has been fantastic.”

Cr Anderson said discussions involving all eight councillors who said they were willing to step up and assist her in the mayoral role was demonstrative of the support she had received.

The mayor said the council had achieved a lot over the past year, including getting out into the community to tackle the council plan.

Speaking to the community, Cr Anderson said residents could have “no doubt” the council was going “to get out there soon enough” to discuss improving and advancing the council plan with residents.

“We’re not going to rest,” she said.

“We’ll keep going and we’ll do it as a fantastic team together.”
