Kyneton knock not enough

Kyneton remains without a win in the Gisborne and District Cricket Association’s B-grade competition despite a strong performance with the bat.

Kyneton was always going to be in for a tough run chase against Gisborne. Needing 328 for victory, Kyneton batted out its overs but fell short, finishing 9-281.

Ashfield ended Wallan’s unbeaten start to the season.

Resuming at 5-43 and needing 117, Ashfield batted strongly to start day two. The two unbeaten batsmen, Jason King and Dylan Caruana, got their side to within two for the win, before Caruana was out for 41.

Ashfield continued on, finishing at 8-156. King, who took three wickets on day one, made 70.

East Sunbury’s imposing total of 7-302 was too much for Riddell. The winless Bombers could only manage 133 in reply.

Nathan Penticoss was the best of the bowlers for the Thunder, taking 3-9. It’s the Thunder’s second win for the season and they currently sit fourth.

Macedon showed some improvement with the bat against Bacchus Marsh, but it wasn’t enough. Macedon was bowled out nearly 100 runs short, for 188. Chris Axton finished unbeaten on 54.

St Anthonys remains the only side undefeated, beating Eynesbury which also entered the round undefeated.

Needing nearly 298 for the win, the Eagles were bowled out for 159. Saints skipper Cameron Clayton took 3-41.
