A classy haven: 4 Fairway Drive,Gisborne, 3437

Kerbside, you could easily be misled into thinking this one is an average Joe, but that preconception is blown out of the water once you roam through the classy, wonderfully liveable, cleverly designed house.

Backing onto the golf course’s watered fifth tee – a treat of a view – in a secluded enclave five minutes’ drive from the town centre, this cracking property takes up about 2365 very appealing square metres.

A step inside the front door shows straightaway there’s something special here, starting with the plaster pitched ceiling in the foyer – which is replicated in the meals area in the living hub. Also replicated – three times – are timber-framed glazed doors, which cleverly introduce (or close off) entire zones.

One of those zones includes the main bathroom with Caesarstone-topped vanity, flanked by two grey-carpeted fitted bedrooms with plantation shutters. Another has the third fitted bedroom (or study), a powder room and a fantastic laundry with walk-in closet, drying rails and oodles of cupboard storage. Along with walk-in and built-in robes and dual-basin en suite with spa, the slightly tucked-away main bedroom accesses a private elevated deck.

The next zone is a large carpeted lounge room with a wall of windows dressed in mid-grey sheers; it also has access to a brilliant elevated deck which runs down the side and along the back. A great wine ‘cellar’ with split-system adjoins the lounge.

Next is the main living hub, where the sitting area has a gas log fire flanked by louvred windows, and the kitchen is swish. It starts with a fab butler’s pantry, then pop-up power points in a massive Caesarstone island bench and finishes with 2pac soft-close cabinetry and top-notch Miele and French appliances.

Saving possibly best for last, double sliding doors from the meals area open to a tiled summer room with plaster pitched ceiling; bi fold doors open up to all decks on three sides, effectively banishing the walls when open.

Both huge side yards are attractively landscaped; one has four raised vegie containers and a water tank. Also big, the backyard has several fruit trees and spots to sit under other tall trees, while a deck perches beside a petanque (French bowls) court.

Don’t miss this one … it’s good.
