Salesian College Sunbury above the herd

A local school has had success at this year’s Royal Melbourne Show.

Salesian College Sunbury’s agricultural entries took out the title of Reserve Champion Simmental cow and were awarded a first, second, third and fifth ribbon placing in handling displays.

The school’s steers also received a fourth and sixth ribbon placing.

Students Jamie Vosper, Alice Metrivics and Tim Smith led the animals in the competition.

Jamie said it was great to be able meet other entrants at the show.

“Being able to socialise with others who share the same interest as us helped make the experience so memorable,” he said.

“Attending the show gave us the opportunity to bond with our cattle outside of the college, which I really enjoyed.”

Salesian College Sunbury students take part in agriculture activities on the school’s campus, including livestock skills and crop production.
