Macedon Ranges’ new After Dark Group

A new way for young Macedon Ranges people aged 18 to 25 years to make connections and socialise has been created.

Run by Macedon Ranges Health, the After Dark Group will offer monthly meetings with the first to be held on Thursday, October 12.

Organiser and community health nurse Louise Beer said friendship groups tended to change when young people finished school and went off on different paths, and that sometimes led to feelings of social disconnection.

Ms Beer said there seemed to be support groups for younger adolescents across the area, but not older adolescents and young adults.

The After Dark Group will be a free program and what group members do will be determined by the participants.

Ms Beer said activities could range from movie nights to guest speakers chatting about subjects such as budgeting and resume writing.

The group will meet monthly at 76 Hamilton Street, Gisborne, led by community health nurse Gaby
Cornish.

The first meeting will be held on Thursday, October 12, from 6-7.30pm.
