Macedon Ranges council welcomes new CEO

Macedon Ranges council’s new chief executive will bring a wealth of experience in the fields of local and state government when she takes up the role on November 13.

Margot Stork was officially appointed as Macedon Ranges council’s new chief executive at its meeting last week.

Earlier this month, Ms Stork resigned from her former position as the interim general manager (CEO) of Murray River council, which was constituted from the merge of Murray and Wakool councils last year.

Ms Stork was awarded the NSW State Government Ministers’ Award for a Senior Woman in a rural/regional council in March for her work in joining the two councils.

She previously worked in the Victorian government’s department of treasury and finance for years, taking up the role of director service and operations from 2009 to February 2014.

Ms Stork has qualifications in law, economics, accounting, business management, commercial law, project management and public relations.

Macedon Ranges council mayor Jennifer Anderson said Ms Stork impressed the council “with her energy, enthusiasm, qualifications and experience”.

“We are delighted that she has agreed to take up the role and believe that under her guidance the organisation will be well placed to support councillors to achieve agreed outcomes for the community,” Cr Anderson said.

Ms Stork said she was “very much looking forward to working with council, councillors and the community”.

“To be appointed to this beautiful shire renowned for its unique townships, beautiful landscapes, heritage architecture and vibrant communities is an opportunity that is exciting both professionally and personally,” she said.

Ms Stork will take over from the current chief executive Peter Johnson on November 13.
