Kyneton’s hopes of getting past the first week of the Bendigo Football League finals have fallen short for a third straight year.
After finishing fifth for a third straight year, the Tigers faced Sandhurst in an elimination final on Sunday.
There was nothing in the game all day, with the two teams trading the lead. The Tigers led by 11 points at half time and then trailed by three points at half time.
The Tigers regained the lead in the third quarter and led by four points heading into the final quarter.
The two teams traded goals and the lead early in the last quarter, before Sandhurst kicked three goals to open up a 22 point lead.
The Tigers kicked two quick goals to bring the margin back to 10 points. They got a third goal, but it wasn’t enough with Sandhurst winning, 12.18 (90)-13.7 (85).
Ben Weightman kicked six goals for the Tigers and had plenty of support from Mitchell Scholard who kicked four goals.
Josh Govan and Weightman were named the Tigers best in the loss.
