Keen Kyneton gardeners will demonstrate how to grow and maintain an edible garden next month.
Eight gardeners from Kyneton and surrounding areas are inviting visitors to their edible gardens for Kyneton Transition Hub Open Edible Garden Day on Sunday, September 3.
Organiser Nea Gyorffy said the green thumbs hoped “to show others how sustaining and life-affirming an edible garden can be”.
Practical, inexpensive ways of replenishing soil, water management, weed and pest control and growing plants from seeds using chemical-free methods will be taught.
Ms Gyorffy said those involved in the open day wanted visitors to leave thinking, “I can do this too.”
Community gardens at Kyneton Secondary College and Malmsbury Primary school will be featured in the event.
Ms Gyorffy said these gardens were great examples of “what schools and communities can achieve together”.
