The Lions, who finished third on the ladder in the first season of this competition, faced Caroline Springs in an elimination semi-final at the weekend.

Having beaten Caroline Springs during the season the Lions took plenty of confidence into the match.

They had the better of the first quarter, but couldn’t convert it to goals, kicking five behinds to nothing.

Caroline Springs hit the front in the second quarter and led by one point at the main break.

It was the Lions who dominated in the second half, kicking 2.6 in the third quarter and 2.2 in the final quarter to seal a 5.15 (45)-2.3 (15) win.

The Lions now face Manor Lakes in a preliminary final on Sunday. The winner will take on Keilor in the grand final.

In the only match between the Lions and Manor Lakes this season, Manor Lakes came out on top, winning 10.14 (74)-3.0 (18).

Meanwhile, the Lions youth girls side is through to the grand final.

After winning all their home and away games by massive margins, the Lions had a much closer battle on Sunday against Pascoe Vale.

The Lions led by four points at half-time, before keeping the Panthers goalless in the second half to win 7.8 (50)-2.4 (16). Madison Prespakis kicked three goals in the win.

The Lions will play the winner of the preliminary final between Pascoe Vale and Keilor.
