Driver caught allegedly doing more than 200km/h

An 18-year old man has been charged after allegedly driving at more than 200km/h on the Calder Freeway yesterday.

A police helicopter tracked the BMW coupe through Woodend and Kyneton after a member of the public reported seeing the vehicle travelling at high speeds in Macedon about 2pm.

Macedon Ranges Highway Patrol clocked the car allegedly driving at 218km/h just north of Malmsbury. The car pulled over after a short chase.

The car, which does not belong to the driver, will be impounded for 30 days.
