Award-winning Indigenous author Bruce Pascoe is joining the Macedon Ranges to celebrate NAIDOC Week (July 2-9).
To mark the national week of recognition for the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, Pascoe will speak at the John Morieson Oration night.
The accomplished author will discuss his latest award-winning work Dark Emu, which presents a radically different view of Australia’s first people as hunter gatherers.
Through extracts of early explorer’s journals and records, Pascoe asserts that Aboriginal people were engineering sophisticated dwellings and irrigation systems across the continent.
The evening honours Mr Morieson, an academic of Aboriginal history and cosmology, social activist for Indigenous education and member of Macedon Ranges Reconciliation Group.

Macedon Ranges Reconciliation Group and the council will host the event at Kyneton Mechanics Institute on July 8 from 7.30-9pm.
