Sunbury Lions winning road ways

Sunbury Lions returned home a happy team after their third successive road win in the Ballarat Football League.

The Lions knew going into the the season a four week period  on the road could really set up their season.

After dropping the first match against the then undefeated Lake Wendouree, the Lions won the next three, the most recent against Ballarat on Saturday.

It was a start to finish performance for the Lions who made the most of their chances in front of goal, winning 20.4 (124)-11.10 (76).

Ben Said, who missed last week with illness, kicked six goals, as six players kicked multiple goals.

Alec Goodson and Greg Hay were named the Lions best in the win.

The win cements their spot in the top six. They currently sit fourth, one of three teams from fourth to sixth equal on points.

The Lions will like their chances to make it four wins in a row, as they face North Ballarat City on Saturday. A win would take them into their bye with a 6-4 record.

The A-grade netballers rebounded from a draw the previous round to defeat Ballarat 70-43.  Amanda Cuscak shot 53 goals for the Lions, stepping up from B-grade in the absence of Chloe Curran.

Back on their home ground, Clarke Oval, on Saturday the Lions are making a day of it, holding a family fun day from 1pm.

There will be free children’s activities, while the under-10s and Auskickers getting to play on the ground at half time.
