High flyers will loop and roll while landlubbers will be urged to spread their wings when Kyneton Airshow takes to the skies for its 50th year.
The show, on April 23, will include aeronautic displays by vintage and rare aircraft – with a big drawcard being a RAAF Roulettes’ flyover.
The show, postponed because of extreme spring rains last October, is a major fundraiser for Kyneton and Woodend Rotary clubs, and a major spectacle for the town known as Queen of the Uplands, and its municipal airport.
Kyneton Rotarian and pilot David Bibby said the airshow promises to be a great day out.
“This is a significant event for the Kyneton Aero Club, the Macedon Ranges and for the history of aviation in Australia,” he said.
“People from all over Australia will be visiting the Macedon Ranges and joining with the locals for this fun day of family entertainment and celebration.
“And the proceeds get put back into the community.”
The air show’s Spread Your Wings theme aims to entice visitors into a possible career in aviation, Mr Bibby said.
Gates open at 8.30am, flying displays start from 10.30am.
There will be entertainment for children, a vintage car display and food vendors.
