Get in the swim

Slap on the sunscreen and slip on your hats – council’s outdoor pools at Lancefield and Woodend are open for the summer. Both outdoor pools will be open until Sunday, January 29, on days when the temperature is more than 24 degrees. Hours may vary depending on the forecast.

Hanging Rock tours

Explore Hanging Rock by signing up for a guided night tour during January. Tours are lead by a park ranger. Bookings are essential.

Basketball clinic

Budding basketball players aged between five and 15 are urged to sign up for Bendigo Spirit’s basketball clinic at Romsey Recreation Centre on Tuesday, January 24. Players Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe and Blake Dietrick will run the clinic. Participants will receive a free child’s pass to watch a Bendigo Spirit game. Bookings essential as places are limited.

Heroes and villains show

Join your favourite heroes and villains in action at Woodend library, corner High and Forest streets, Woodend, on Wednesday, January 25, from 10.30am until 11.30am, when Carp Productions’ Heroes and Villains show gets under way. The interactive performance is the ultimate showdown between good and evil, with heroes and villains vying for the titles of ‘most popular’. Come dressed as your favourite goodie or baddie. The show is suitable for children aged four-12 years old. Bookings essential.

Summer reading club

Bookworms are being encouraged to take part in Hume libraries’ summer reading program. Children are encouraged to read as many books as they can to go into the draw to win some fantastic bundles of books, vouchers and Lego. Entry forms and reading records for the children and adult reading programs can be downloaded from humelibraries.vic.gov.au or picked up from any local branch library.
