More girls will be getting amongst the skate park action once they sharpen their skills at this month’s Girls Can Shred workshop.
The workshop, which was planned for September but was rained out, has been rescheduled for this Saturday, November 5.
Girls aged between 12 and 25 are urged to get down to Kyneton skate park for the female-only workshop that aims to empower young women to be more involved in action sports.
Macedon Ranges council partnered with XtremeInc for the beginner workshops, led by experienced instructors Jodie Hearn and Beth Allan.
Ms Hearn says skaters will learn to be more confident and comfortable using their local skate park.
“No experience is needed for these workshops, just a great attitude,” she says.
“Girls will be able to learn the basics of getting up on their boards, balancing, rolling, kick-turning, ollies and more.”
More advanced skaters will receive tips on moves such as getting up and down ramps.
Riders are required to bring their own skateboard, but safety gear will be supplied.
There will be prizes, demonstrations by the Lanbrohini skate team, activities, a barbecue and more.
The workshop runs from 10.30am until noon.
